How Can severe Upper Back Pain Be Treated?

Hi, i m experiencing some pain in my upper left area of my back. It s has been hurting like that since friday night. I had taken 600mg of Ibuprofen and the pain went away for a couple of hours but returned after the pain meds wore off. I m also experiencing pain when i take a deep breathe, bend down, tilt my head back, laugh and if i have to cough to clear my throat. I do not have any cold symptoms. My bpm is 96% and SpO2 is 98%. I am a 35 year old female with Sickle Cell Disease (SC trait). What should I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be due to spine related conditions like a prolapsed disc or nerve compression.

As of now, analgesics like tramadol can be taken for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
